This paper explores the concept of breadcrumb sensor nodes de-
signed to support situational awareness in demanding environ-
ments. It presents insights from two workshops conducted with
professional firefighters to explore design and technical require-
ments for creating such a system. Based on these findings, the paper
introduces an initial design prototype and a functional implemen-
tation of the sensor node. It discusses core features, anticipated use
cases, and implementation challenges, laying the groundwork for
further development and field testing.
