Thermoplastische Elastomere aus recycelten Polyolefinen und Autoreifen
Projekt
Überblick
Beschreibung
Based on a formulated technology concept and application (TRL 2) as well as experimental successful proof of concept (TRL 3) feasibility studies are planned for ecological methods, for surface activation of rubber particles and an innovative efficient separation technology for the recovery of mixed polyolefins. To strengthen the whole innovation chain, HERO covers plastic waste materials, recycling processes such as sorting and mechanical recycling, processing by injection moulding, the application of thermoplastic elastomers (TPEs) produced for transportation and construction, and their multiple recycling. Consequently, two universities, one research institute and nine SME’s are involved in HERO to cover the whole innovation chain as well as to perform the validation in real environments (TRL 5), the life cycle assessment (LCA), life cycle cost (LCC) analysis, and cost-benefit analysis (CBA). || HERO aims on producing high-performance composites having tailored thermal and mechanical properties to be used for engineering applications in transportation and construction. These composites are produced from polymeric waste and are recyclable. Consequently, HERO will support the further transfer to circular economy of the European Union. HERO addresses functionalisation and characterisation for improved interfacial adhesion, the use of recycled materials, determination of properties after multiple recycling, new design and recycling strategies for waste polymer containing composites. || The project proposal HERO combines the scientific excellences of Germany, Hungary, and Romania in plastic waste recycling and preparation of high-performance composites from recycled plastic waste. It promotes the transnational cooperation between Germany, Hungary, and Romania as well as the innovation process regarding energy- and cost-efficient recycling processes for mixed polyolefin waste and scrap tires. This will lead to a reduction of plastic waste and enhanced resource productivity in the EU, while also helping to establish a circular economy.
